As a regional council, we are responsible for managing natural resources including air, soil, water and land. We work in partnership with mana whenua Ngāi Tahu to protect the health of our environment to ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for our region.

Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role
Based in either Twizel or Timaru, and reporting to Water and Land Team Leader South, you’ll join a dedicated and hardworking team to:
The role is not one that will have you stuck behind a desk all day as there’s plenty of field-based regional travel to provide you with variety and maximum job interest.
Mōu │ About You
We can teach you how we do things here at Environment Canterbury, but what’s important is that you’re a self-starter with a willingness to learn. You’ll be someone who connects easily with the farming community, customers, members of your team, and key stakeholders. You’ll be a natural collaborator, drawing people together, listening to their issues, and building trust, whilst influencing their view on improving environmental management.
You will offer experience in the agricultural or support industries or knowledge of farm systems and land management practices and be able to translate research or academic knowledge with a practical application. Your sound knowledge of good management practices, nutrient management, and Overseer expertise will be an advantage. This role is a blend of field work and office, so you’ll be confident and fit to navigate farms, hill slopes and waterways.
Mātau ā-Wheako | Experience
Ideally, you’ll have relevant work experience in this field, and/or a tertiary degree in a resource management or agriculture related field.
If you only have some of the experience required but have a can-do attitude, please put your application forward.
Applicants with extensive relevant experience may be considered for a Senior Land Management Advisor role.
