Exciting Career Opportunity: Stock Manager

Are you ready to take the next step in your farming career?  We are looking for a driven individual looking to grow their management skills on a large-scale high performing property.

 

The Property

Located 10 minutes south of Wairoa, we are a family run business.  This 14,00ha sheep and beef operation runs 14,000 stock units with a focus on excellence.  With a sophisticated forage cropping program in place that prioritizes pasture productivity  and livestock performance.  

This station offers ample opportunity for quality horse and dog work. across a great mix of topography, from steep breeding hill country to productive flat finishing land.

The Role 

This position offers a unique "hands on" leadership experience, perfect for someone who wants to bridge the gap between stock work and farm management.    

You will be responsible for the health and performance of all livestock. You will work alongside one shepherd, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard. 

 Key responsibilities include ;

Day to day management of livestock

Planning and executing grazing rotations across varying terrain

 Maintaining animal health programs (drenching, dipping, and vaccinations) 

Recording all animal health, and accurate stock numbers in the Resolution farming app

Leading mustering and stock movements

Working collaboratively with the shepherd to hit production targets

There will be periods of R and M when stock work is completed 

Stockmanship: proven experience in hill country breeding and flat finishing country

Team: ability to mentor and lead a shepherd effectively

Dogs: a reliable team of well controlled working dogs is essential

Horses: As we value traditional stockmanship on our steeper hill country, being competent and willing to work on horseback is HIGHLY PREFERRED

Communication: clear communication and basic record keeping skills.
