Shepherd / Stockman (Permanent/fulltime)

Taurapa Station has a lot to offer. At 1450 Ha, it has a good mix of country and of stock classes. Stock is made up of:

• 5000 terminal ewes with all lambs sold at our annual on farm lamb sale
• 350 breeding cows with all progeny finished
• A further 5-700 trade cattle finished
• Some winter trade lambs, season dependent

The position will provide a lot of flex for the right applicant and their abilities, with responsibility matched appropriately.

In terms of the day to day operations, the ideal candidate will: - Be passionate about feeding stock and meeting production targets; - Have a capable team of minimum 4 dogs; - Strive for improvement in all aspects of their career and job; - Have a broad general skill set; - A positive attitude towards health and safety.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, organization and time management skills as well as a reasonable level of computer/technology literacy. Weight will be placed on the candidate’s further education such as AgITO, Dip Ag or an Ag based Degree.

The station boundaries the length of Ocean beach and is handy to Havelock North. The position also offers a competitive salary, warm and tidy 3 bedroom house and a culture that endorses further studies.
