About the Farm

‘Iona’ is a well-established sheep and beef operation, with a mix of flat, rolling and hill country. We run 3,200 Romney ewes, 1,000 replacement hogget’s, 185 breeding cattle and the flexibility of store stock, depending on our season. We are focused on productivity, animal welfare, and sustainable land management. The farm is well-resourced, with sound infrastructure, quality stock, and a supportive team environment.

About the Role

Working closely with the farm owners, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the farm. This includes:

  • Stock management across sheep and beef operations
  • Strong animal health, feeding, and pasture management
  • Supporting and leading staff, when required
  • Farm maintenance (fencing, water systems, electrics, general upkeep)
  • Operating and maintaining farm machinery, including being part of a syndicate
  • Stepping up to lead the farm, in the owner’s absence
  • Contributing to planning and decision-making
  • Helping support a positive team culture and a safe working environment
  • A great work-life balance

This role suits someone who enjoys responsibility, takes pride in their work, and is keen to grow their leadership capability.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has extensive practical experience in sheep and beef farming and wants to add value to all our farming operations.
  • Strong team of dogs
  • Demonstrates strong stockmanship, pasture management and has attention to detail
  • Is reliable, honest, and able to work independently
  • Communicates well and enjoys being part of a team
  • Shows initiative, a growth mindset and a willingness to step up into farm management
  • Has experience with farm machinery
  • Willingness to work with technology
