Job Description
Gladlea Farms is a 1200ha family owned and operated farming operation on the outskirts of the town, Balfour. Our farming enterprise consists 600ha of cereal cropping with the balance made up of a Breeding ewe flock, finishing beef and dairy grazing.
We require a new member to join us in our focused and passionate team.
Main tasks would be:
· Machinery operation including cultivations, seeding, spraying and grain harvest.
· Stock work including Moving stock, animal heath treatments, Lambing and yard work.
· Fencing, drainage and general farm maintenance.
The ideal applicant will:
· Have an interest in both arable and livestock farming systems.
· Have previous experience operating farm machinery and general repairs & maintenance on machinery and around the farm, including fencing.
· Have good stock sense and an eye for detail to identify any issues with livestock
· Be an effective communicator and be able to work as part of a team as well as unsupervised.
· Must hold current drivers’ licence and be a tidy observant operator. Class 4-5 license an advantage
· Must be motivated and have attention to detail.
We have a thriving rural community with a range of sports clubs and activities. Our farm is an hour’s drive from the nearest city of Invercargill, 1hrs 15mins Queenstown and 30mins from Gore. We have two top fishing rivers within 10mins drive and ski fields within an hour as well as plenty of hunting spots locally.
We can offer a warm comfortable 3-bedroom house on farm if required.
Remuneration package to be negotiated based on experience.
