Job Description

NZ Pastures is a long-term investor in the New Zealand agriculture sector with interests in sheep, beef and forestry assets across Central Otago and Southland.  Having owned Hills Creek and Pennyweight stations for several years we are looking for an ambitious manager to support us and the local staff to continue to improve the property and contribute to the local community.

  • Located close to Alexandra and Ranfurly

We are looking for an experienced farm manager who is passionate about farming and has a proven track record in stock and farm performance.  We are seeking a self-starter and natural stockperson who is hard working, diligent, and up for a challenge.   You will be a person who works well with others and values open communication.  These are key values in assisting with the running of the stock to achieve top results for the property.  This property is also undergoing a development programme, so the applicant would be preferably experienced or at least passionate to help drive pasture renewal, increased stocking units and paddock subdivision.

The successful applicant will require the following:

  • Experienced at working on similar size properties or properties with similar stock units/types for 3+ years
  • Experience in building strong on farm culture and creating engaged teams
  • A strong understanding of what drives on farm performance and the ability to make decisions to best manage staff, stocking levels and farm development
  • A proven track record of performance and improvement
  • Managerial skills including reporting, planning, and budgeting
  • A good team of working dogs
