Job Description
We are looking for an experienced shepherd to join our small team and work alongside the owners/managers. Highland Station is a 1000 hectare sheep and beef breeding property that boundaries Te Urewera National Park.
We are looking for someone reliable and honest, who has good stockmanship and a team of 4-5 well trained dogs. The role is primarily stock work, with fencing, maintenance and general farm duties making up the balance.
The successful applicant will have some sheep and beef experience and the ability to ride a horse. We can offer the right person the chance to take on more responsibilities if they can demonstrate their capabilities.
The position offers a good variety of work with sheep and beef breeding, lamb fattening and ongoing maintenance on a property that comprises some easy front country and more challenging mustering on the back country.
A tidy three- bedroom cottage is provided and there is plenty of hunting on the property.
The location is 70kms from Gisborne with a friendly community at Rere and Ngatapa a 30-40minute drive. And in the opposite direction Matawai township is only 30 kms away.
