Farm Worker (Full time -Permanent) - Dairy Grazing, Livestock and Mixed Cropping Operation

Woolshed Cliffs LTD is a 540-hectare family farm, conveniently located just 10 minutes from Timaru in South Canterbury. We specialise in Dairy Grazing, livestock and mixed cropping, including year-round and winter dairy grazing, cereals, and trading bulls and beef animals. We are set across  rolling hills with some steeper country.

Position Overview

We are seeking an honest, reliable, and hardworking individual with prior experience in farm work. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for agriculture and a willingness to be involved in a variety of tasks whilst working to a high standard. Responsibilities will include tractor work and other machinery operation, livestock management, harvesting, irrigation management, and general farm development and maintenance. They will come into a positive and supportive working environment.

Key Responsibilities

·        Tractor work and Machinery Operation: Competence with tractors and other agricultural equipment is essential. Tasks will involve cultivating, drilling,  fertiliser application, harvesting, mowing, and winter feeding out. Experience and confidence with operating machinery on hilly terrain is an advantage.

·        Livestock Management: Experience with cattle, dairy cows, bulls, and other livestock is important. Duties include weighing, loading and unloading stock in yards, winter break fencing for Dairy Grazers, and attending to basic animal health needs.

·        Maintenance: Ability and discipline to maintain and service farm machinery and vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety.

·        Irrigation: Prior experience with irrigation systems is beneficial; however, on-farm training can be provided for the right candidate.

·        General Farm Duties: Tasks such as fence repairs, water system maintenance, weed spraying, and other routine farm activities are expected.

Candidate Profile

·        Physically fit, motivated, and eager to contribute to the team

·        Experienced and competent with modern agricultural machinery ie Tractor GPS

·        Capable of working independently and with others within a small team environment

·        Strong communication skills, and works well with casual staff especially during winter seasons

·        Demonstrates attention to detail and works to a high standard in all they do

·        Open to learning, receptive to feedback, and committed to personal development

·        Prepared to undertake occasional weekend work as required

Remuneration and Start Date

Remuneration is negotiable and will reflect the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The position is available from March 2025.
