Job Description
We have a full-time position for a person who would enjoy a variety of tasks including general farm work and machinery operation on our 930ha mixed arable farm located at Weston 5 minutes in land from Oamaru in North Otago.
We grow a range of cereal crops, grass seed and specialist seeds with 300ha under pivot & hard hose gun irrigation. In addition to this we finish approx. 150 beef cattle and 6,000- 8,000 store lambs.
We operate a range of modern machinery utilizing GPS auto steer, section control and variable rate irrigation technology. We have our own grain drying plant and storage facility allowing us to undertake most operations in house.
This position involves helping with general farm tasks such as:
• Truck and tractor driving
• Harvest work
• Shifting irrigation
• Spraying
• Stock work
• Fencing
• Farm Maintenance
Desirable job skills would include, but are not limited to machinery maintenance and basic engineering skills i.e. welding. For the right person, on the job training would be provided.
You will also need to be competent working alone and have great communication skills due to the large-scale nature of our business.
The successful applicant should also be willing to work overtime in busy times of the year i.e. harvest, irrigation, and planting time.
During busy times of the year we run a weekend roster system to allow staff to have scheduled time off, whilst ensuring seasonal workloads are executed in a timely manner.
Clean NZ Drivers Licence and Class 4 licences are essential.
Remuneration will be by experience.
