Your Future Workplace

Ngahere Station Ltd is an established family farming business based in Central Hawke’s Bay, recently expanding with the purchase of Forest Home Farm in Wakarara. Operating alongside Ngahere, Cheviot/St Lawrence, Abbotsford and Highgrove, Forest Home forms part of a well-integrated breeding and finishing farming system across the wider business. 

The property spans approximately 1,200 hectares, with around 1,000 hectares of effective grazing area comprising predominantly flat to rolling contour. Supporting sheep, deer and cattle, Forest Home is a productive and well-developed property operating within a flexible seasonal farming system.      

 

Your Role

This is a varied and hands-on Fencer General role suited to someone who is practical, adaptable and enjoys working across all aspects of a busy farming operation. The position has a strong focus on fencing and infrastructure maintenance, alongside general farm maintenance, tractor work, and supporting the day-to-day running of the property. Approximately 20–30% of the role will involve livestock work, including stock handling, yard work, and other practical on farm tasks.

The successful applicant will take pride in maintaining farm infrastructure to a high standard and be capable across a range of practical farm duties. As part of the wider farming business, there may also be opportunities to assist across other properties within the operation as required.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Strong fencing experience, including repair and maintenance of fences and yards.
  • General farm experience with a good understanding of day-to-day farming operations.
  • Experience with livestock work, particularly sheep, cattle, and deer.
  • Ability to assist with seasonal stock tasks, including preparing sheep for shearing.
  • Basic tractor and machinery operation skills.
  • Physically fit and capable of manual outdoor work in varying conditions.
  • Reliable, practical, and self-motivated.
