Lochinver Station is one of New Zealand’s largest and most iconic farming properties, located just 25 kilometres south of Taupō on State Highway 5. The 11,000-hectare station includes approximately 7,000 effective hectares and winters around 70,000 stock units, comprising a large-scale sheep and beef breeding operation. With 4,000 hectares of cultivatable land, Lochinver offers significant flexibility for breeding, finishing, and support systems. The property is highly developed, well-resourced, and continues to present opportunities for ongoing productivity and performance improvements.
Your Role
Lochinver Station is seeking a capable and experienced Fencer General to join its Infrastructure team, working across both Lochinver and Otamatea Stations. This hands-on role involves undertaking new fencing projects as well as repairs and maintenance work, while taking ownership of tasks and delivering a high standard of workmanship. In addition to fencing responsibilities, you will assist with the maintenance and improvement of farm infrastructure, including yards, water systems, vehicles, and equipment, and contribute to a variety of farm development projects.
Working closely with the Head Fencer, you will be involved in the planning and execution of daily tasks and provide support to the wider farming operation as required. The role is well suited to someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, can work independently, operates machinery confidently, and maintains a strong commitment to health and safety. Seasonal duties may also include operating farm vehicles and towing feed-out wagons during winter.
