Shepherd General : Step Up and Take The Reins – Otorohanga, NZ

Ngapeke Farm Limited is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Shepherd General to join the team on a well-established 730 effective hectare sheep and beef operation, located just 18km Southeast of Otorohanga.

Running approximately 2,500 sheep and 900 cattle, including cows, heifers, and steers, this role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step up, further develop their skills, and contribute to the day-to-day running of half the farm.

What You'll Be Doing

• General stock work across sheep and cattle
• Animal health treatments including drenching
• Dagging, weighing, and livestock monitoring
• Water system maintenance
• Fencing and general farm maintenance
• Weed management
• Working closely with management to achieve farm goals
• Managing and planning daily tasks across your area of responsibility

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 1-2 years' farming experience
• A genuine desire to step up and take on more responsibility
• Positive, can-do attitude with plenty of drive and enthusiasm
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Team player who enjoys contributing to a supportive farm environment
• Competent working with dogs, with a team of 3 working dogs
• Exposure to Halter or similar farm technology systems would be beneficial, although full training can be provided for the right candidate.
