About Brownrigg Agriculture
Brownrigg Agriculture is a large-scale, privately owned farming business based in Hawke’s Bay, with operations spanning cropping and livestock. Its livestock enterprise covers around 5,500ha across five farm units, supported by experienced Farm Managers and shepherding teams. The business has a strong focus on animal husbandry, production efficiency and continual improvement, with winter lamb finishing, bull beef and improved forage systems central to its farming operation.
Puketio is a 1,430ha mixed farming operation combining lamb and beef finishing with high-value summer cash crops. The property includes around 500ha of flat to easy rolling country, with the balance in steeper hill country, providing a diverse farming environment. The operation finishes around 20,000–25,000 lambs through winter and early spring, alongside a flexible bull beef policy and Angus breeding herd. A diverse forage programme including lucerne, plantain, chicory, kale and winter annual grasses support animal performance, with the property continuing to develop through new technology and improved farming systems.
