Your Role

This is a hands-on Farm Manager role overseeing the day-to-day operations of two substantial livestock properties in Tasmania. Working closely with the owner, the Farm Manager will manage the sheep and cattle enterprises, with responsibility for animal husbandry, breeding, lambing/calving, animal health, mustering, drafting, finishing and sales.

The role also covers pasture and irrigation management, fencing, property maintenance and machinery operation, while providing strong leadership to the existing team. The successful applicant will need to be comfortable working across varied and rugged terrain, including mustering on horseback on the hill country, and coordinating operations across both properties.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven experience managing large-scale sheep and cattle operations, with strong all-round stockmanship.
  • Practical experience across breeding, lambing, calving, animal health, mustering, drafting and livestock finishing.
  • Strong pasture management skills, including experience with irrigated pasture systems and pivot irrigation.
  • Practical knowledge of fencing, including electric fencing, general farm maintenance and infrastructure.
  • Comfortable working across varied and rugged terrain, with horse mustering experience advantageous.
  • Proven ability to lead, organise and motivate a team, while being hands-on and willing to work alongside staff.
  • Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage operations across two properties.
  • Commercially aware, with a sound understanding of livestock production, market influences and making practical, production-focused decisions.
  • Reliable, proactive and accountable, with good communication skills and the ability to build a strong working relationship with the owner and wider team.
  • Confident operating tractors, trucks and farm machinery, with a current NZ or Australian Heavy Vehicle Licence.

  • Accommodation is a 4-bedroom home that was renovated 2 years ago. It is open plan kitchen and living area. Two bathrooms including an ensuite. The home is fully insulated with double glazing and heat pumps.
  • Both properties are located south of Launceston, with the main farm near Campbell Town, approximately 65km away. Launceston provides major shopping, medical and schooling services, while Campbell Town offers essential local facilities.

About Rosedale Rural Pty Ltd

Rosedale Rural is a long-established livestock operation near Campbell Town, Tasmania, with a main property of approximately 5,800 hectares carrying 9,500 breeding ewes and 700 Angus cows plus followers. The property is predominantly rugged grazing country, with around 700 hectares irrigated for pasture production, and horses are used for mustering.

The business also operates an 800-hectare property between Longford and Carrick, carrying around 600 breeding cows with 350 hectares irrigated. The two properties are managed as part of the wider operation, with livestock and machinery shared between them.
