Your Role

As Station Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day operation of Washpool Station, working alongside the owners to deliver the farm business plan with a strong focus on stock performance, productivity and profitability. The land is intensively utilised from autumn through spring, with lambs on the hills and irrigated flats that are all finished and sold by early November. During summer, steers are purchased to manage grass quality on the hills and prepare it for the following autumn-to-spring lamb programme.

You’ll oversee staff, livestock, pasture and irrigation, while managing budgets, livestock purchasing, processor relationships and farm compliance. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced operator with a proven track record in animal performance and profitable farming.

What You’ll Bring:

• A high degree of practical farming experience and a desire to manage a high performing lamb finishing operation.
• Proven strengths and experience in the area of people leadership.
• Business planning and budget management experience.
• Strong capability in pasture production and utilisation.
• Suitable tertiary level qualification is highly desired.
• Technical capability with farm information systems and software (owners open to adopting if they add value).
• Experience in irrigation would be useful, however, training will be offered to the appointee.
• Capable team of working dogs.
• Full New Zealand drivers’ licence.
