Your Role

Longacre Farm is seeking an experienced, hands-on Farm Manager to independently run its 700ha finishing operation. You’ll oversee the day-to-day running of the farm, with responsibility for stock trading and performance, pasture management, feed budgeting, animal health and general farm maintenance.

Working closely with the owners, you’ll plan stock rotations, make the most of seasonal conditions and available feed, manage farm budgets and identify opportunities to improve performance. You’ll also coordinate casual staff when required and maintain the property to a high standard.

The owners are actively involved in the business and are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, makes sound decisions and communicates openly. This is an opportunity to take ownership of the operation while working collaboratively with the owners to achieve strong results.

What You’ll Bring:

• Strong stockmanship and proven ability to finish livestock to a high standard.
• Sound financial and commercial awareness, including farm budgets, market trends and livestock trading.
• Knowledge of animal health, NAIT requirements and livestock compliance.
• Good general maintenance skills and pride in farm presentation.
• Confidence using FarmIQ and managing farm records and systems.
• Four capable working dogs and the ability to make good use of them across the property.
• Strong communication, practical problem-solving skills and a self-motivated approach.

About Longacre Farm

Longacre Farm is a family-owned 700ha finishing property in the picturesque Tuki Tuki Valley, 15 minutes from Havelock North. The farm operates a straightforward finishing system, running approximately 2,600 lambs, 400 Angus beef cattle and 1,700 terminal year 6 ewes annually. Stock is sourced from Otupae Station, with ewes arriving in-lamb from April, lambing in July and lambs from May, to be finished and sold ahead of Christmas. The property also offers a beautiful riverside setting with excellent trout fishing nearby.
